Meet Michon Shaw, MS, NIC Advanced
Founder & Visionary 

Interpret Educate Serve, LLC 

A Florida native, Michon Shaw, has been an ASL Interpreter for nearly 20 years, working in several settings, including Mental Health, Healthcare, K-12, Post-Secondary, Religious, and Video Relay. She matriculated through the University of South Florida’s Bachelor Interpreter Program in 2006 and the University of North Florida’s Interpreting Pedagogy Master’s Program in 2015.  An Interpreter Educator since 2015, Mrs. Shaw is well accustomed to the thrills of interpreting and teaching. A lover of people, culture, and inclusion, Mrs. Shaw is a Doctoral Student in the Educational Leadership Program at Florida Agriculture & Mechanical University and strives to create accessible, diverse spaces of inclusion through the establishment of an interpreter program at a Historically Black College & University (HBCU).

As the passionate visionary of Interpret Educate Serve (IES), Michon is driven by the goal of making access the standard. The IES Company provides interpreting services across the United States, provides webinars and workshops for interpreters and interpreter educators, and is known as the Brand that supplies fashionable apparel and merchandise for the interpreting community.

The Christian church interpreter is tasked with deciphering specialized, frozen text and the balancing act of literal and metaphoric meanings.

The IES Foundation, Inc. will be established in December 2024 to increase the number of interpreters of color in the Signed Language Interpreting profession. We are committed to providing educational resources, scholarships, and support programs that foster academic excellence and personal growth. The IES Foundation endeavors to utilize funds from the community, private sector, and organizations to create enriching opportunities for interpreting students of color to excel and succeed during their student academic journey. Additional financial resources will be earmarked for establishing interpreter program(s) at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
